Alexis M Teplin in conversation

Hayward Gallery

Sunday 20 January 2013

Alexis M Teplin speaks to Stephanie Rosenthal, Chief Curator of Hayward Gallery, about her exhibition of abstract art in the Project Space.

The exhibition displays a new body of paintings and sculptures which relate to the earliest moments of abstract art in the 20th century.

Brightly coloured and abstract, Teplin's pieces reflect Kandinsky's approach of bringing together music, colour and composition. Like music, abstract form and colour affect our emotional register without the need for a subject matter.

These works also integrate Aubrey Beardsley's iconography of Salome, exploring the seductiveness of form alongside the flirtatiousness of Teplin's lyrical colour.

Please note, this event is free and unticketed but capacity is limited so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

The exhibition sss T !! runs from 19 January - 10 March in the Hayward Project Space.
