Poetry Parnassus Launch

Simon Armitage, Kristiina Ehin, Zeyar Lynn & Alvin Pang

Tuesday 26 June 2012

To launch the festival we have forsaken champagne and canons to launch five books instead.

Be the first to hear and meet the Parnassus poets and get your hands on copies of their new collections, including -
The World Record anthology, a landmark international anthology with poems from over 200 countries.
Bones Will Crow, the first anthology of contemporary Burmese poetry ever to be published in the West.
When the Barbarians Arrive, a collection from Alvin Pang, one of the world's most exciting new voices, who offers a fresh, edgy energy to the wave of urban poetry emerging from Singapore.
Highly regarded Estonian poet, Kristiina Ehin's new pamphlet, The Final Going of Snow published by Modern Poetry in Translation.
And The Parley Tree, an anthology of poets from French-speaking Africa and the Arab World, featuring writers who have been translated into English for the first time ever.

'It is a happy thing that there is no royal road to poetry. The world should know by this time that one cannot reach Parnassus except by flying.' (Gerard Manley Hopkins)

The event will be in English, Estonian, Burmese and French.
