Sergey Prokofiev: Peter and the Wolf
Performance lasts approx. 1 hour

Based on one of the most popular pieces of classical music for children, Peter & the Wolf Live is a magical musical and cinematic experience for the whole family.

Returning after sell-out shows in 2010, the beautiful Oscar®-winning film Peter & the Wolf brings to life Prokofiev's classic introduction to the orchestra through the enthralling story of a brave boy called Peter and his quest to defeat the Wolf.

Actor and children's writer Mackenzie Crook (Jerusalem, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Office) introduces the story and the instruments of the orchestra, which play character roles including the loveable Duck, represented by the oboe, the slinky Cat, played by the clarinet and the grumpy Grandfather, heard through the bassoon. Suzie Templeton's darkly magical film then brings these characters to life before your eyes, alongside the young and dynamic musicians of the award-winning Aurora Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Collon.

Suitable for all ages although younger children might find some scenes scary.

Southbank Centre presents Peter & the Wolf Live in association with BreakThru Films.
