Nicki Rolls

Using film, photography, animation and sculpture, often re-working film and found footage, Rolls explores ideas of memory and duration.

For On and On, her exhibition in Hayward Galley's Concrete Cafe, Rolls presents works that manipulate time and space.

An inattentive viewer could overlook the subtly-animated, moving tableaux that comprise Rolls' film works, dismissing them as still images of daily life. But on closer inspection, these seemingly familiar scenes give way to unnerving, skewed settings where new possibilities emerge.
