
Abdullahi Botaan Hassan ‘Kurweyne’ was born in Somalia in 1969 and
started composing poems as a teenager. He came to London in 1998
and has become well known for his poems based on his experiences
there. In 2003 he founded Soohan Somali Arts which works with
Somali children in primary schools in Camden. His work incorporates
Somali language and traditions, educating the public in the rich creativity,
arts and culture of Somalia. He has led inspirational workshops
described by students as ‘unforgettable’ and ‘supremely important’.
