Creative Outdoor Learning

Wednesday 17 October 2012

Join us for a free one-day event in Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden for primary teachers, EYFS practitioners and school leaders, led by the education team from Cornwall's Eden Project.

Come and explore the possibilities for outdoor learning across the curriculum in your school grounds and beyond. Learn from Eden's experts in the inspirational surroundings of the Southbank Garden. This action-packed day of practical workshops, advice and discussion will leave you buzzing with ready-to-use ideas to take learning outdoors, all year round.

Outdoor learning has proven cognitive, social and physical benefits. Find out how this learning can benefit your pupils.

- Explore the benefits of outdoor learning and consider possibilities in your own school grounds, and green spaces close to your school.
- Try a variety of outdoor learning activities - from blindfold trails, to outdoor poetry, to fire-making
- Start to build a bank of activity ideas which are easy to plan and resource- and curriculum-linked
- Discuss the balance between risk and opportunity and ways of managing risk outside
