Terms & conditions for Membership | Southbank Centre
The Membership Scheme
Southbank Centre’s Membership scheme is designed to offer a range of benefits to people wishing to visit the centre often and engage with the artistic programme. As a Member you will be the first to know about events throughout the centre as well as getting the opportunity to book in advance of general sale to the public. Full and Dual Members also have free entry into the Hayward Gallery for exhibitions and exclusive access to the Members Bar at Royal Festival Hall. All levels of Membership pay no booking fee when purchasing tickets over the phone or on Southbank Centre’s website and receive invitations to special events.
• The scheme is an annual membership and your payment covers one calendar year from the date you join.
• Membership is non-transferable.
• Direct Debit payments will be taken on joining the scheme and annually when your membership renewal is due. We will inform you around 4 weeks prior to the payment being taken.
• You can upgrade your Membership at any time and you will only pay the pro rata amount due.
• Dual members can choose to nominate a named person as the second person on their Dual membership, or add ‘+ guest’ to their Dual membership.
• In general membership fees are not refundable except in extreme circumstances.
Gift Aid
If you complete a Gift Aid declaration we can claim Gift Aid on your Membership fee, this means that every £1 you give is worth £1.25 to us, at no extra cost to you. However, we are unable to claim Gift Aid on Gift Memberships of any type, or on Dual Membership unless both Members live at the same address.
Priority Booking
Priority booking offers the chance for Southbank Centre Members to purchase tickets prior to general sale to the public and it is available on many events.
• Tickets are available on a first come first served basis. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee priority booking on all events.
• We endeavour to announce priority booking opportunities 24 hours prior to tickets going on sale to Members but on a small number of occasions it is not possible and the announcement is made at the same time as the tickets will go on sale.
• In a few circumstances the allocation of tickets to Members may be restricted, but the allocation will always include the best tickets available.
• Tickets purchased in a priority booking period are subject to our standard ticket return policy. Find out more here
Members Bar
The Members Bar is situated on Level 6 of Royal Festival Hall and is open to all Full and Dual Members 7 days a week , from 10am until 11pm.
• You will need to present your Membership card on arrival to the Members Bar, during busy periods you may not be admitted if you do not have your Members card with you.
• Full and Dual Members can each bring 1 guest to the bar. Dual Members who have chosen not to nominate a second named person on their membership, may bring up to 3 quests to the bar.
• The Members Bar is chiefly a social space. After 6.30pm every day, usage of laptops, ipads and similar devices is restricted to a small area set aside for this purpose and not allowed in the main area of the Members Bar. This policy is the result of feedback from our Members and remains at our discretion.
• The Royal Festival Hall building will close from time to time for private events or technical set up for events. During such closures, there is no access to the Members Bar. Members will be informed with plenty of notice about such closures.
• Special events may be held in the Members’ Bar but we will endeavour to keep space available for non-attendees of the events.
• Children are admitted.
• We cannot be held responsible for any loss or theft of personal belongings in the Members Bar and we ask that you never leave personal items unattended.
Hayward Gallery
The Hayward Gallery has a long history of presenting work by the worlds most adventurous and innovative artists with three major exhibitions programmed each year.
• Full and Dual Members have free entry to all exhibitions at the Hayward Gallery. Present your membership card at the ticket desk in order to receive an entry pass.
• Dual Members who have not nominated a second person, and have ‘+ guest’ on their membership, can bring a guest for free into the Hayward Gallery.
Information
We will keep you updated on events programmed at the centre, including information about our many bars, shops and restaurants.
• We use email to communicate upcoming events, as this is quickest and most cost effective way of contacting our Members. You can opt to receive a Monthly Diary of our upcoming events by post instead of emails - please contact the Membership Team to request this.
• You will receive 1 monthly e-newsletter featuring events for the following month. We may send 3 or 4 additional emails per month to you to announce new priority booking opportunities.
If you have any comments or suggestions about your Membership, please contact the Membership Team by email: membership@southbankcentre.co.uk or by phone on 020 7921 0916, during office hours.
