Group Introductory Workshops 2011/12
Southbank Centre Gamelan Programme

Come and explore the beautiful music of Indonesia and enjoy group music-making on our wonderful gamelan - Southbank Centre's set of Javanese percussion instruments.

Specialist introductory gamelan workshops are available to groups of up to 20 participants. All groups are welcome from school classes to team-building office outings and training days.

Each two-hour session explores traditional Javanese repertoire but can be tailored to your specific needs to include composition and performing with an expert tutor - a range of special needs can also be accommodated.

No previous musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to take off your shoes and have fun!

Cost - £150 per group.

Free Gamelan and Poetry Workshops for Lambeth Schools
For Lambeth Primary Schools – Summer 2012

Special offer available for Lambeth Primary Schools only

Book for FREE gamelan and poetry workshop sessions for classes of up to 35 pupils. For the first hour, half your class will work with one of our expert gamelan tutors to sample group music-making on the beautiful percussion orchestra from Java, while the other half will explore the Saison Poetry Library's collection. Children will work with library staff to enjoy this unique collection of poetry books and recordings, learning information skills, developing their confidence in writing, and discovering many different types of poems along the way. The groups will swap over for the second half of the 2 hour session.

Cost: ADMISSION FREE (Please note that schools will be limited to one workshop booking per term)
