Storms/Nocturnes: Joe Locke, Tim Garland, Geoffrey Keezer

Monday 12 March 2012

The Storms Nocturnes trio consists of Grammy award-winning arranger, saxophonist and clarinettist Tim Garland, pianist and multiple Grammy nominee Geoffrey Keezer, and the world's leading vibraphonist Joe Locke, who has worked with The Beastie Boys, Dianne Reeves and many more.

Garland unleashes cascades of melody over the top of Keezer's groove-laden bass lines, while Locke's mallets move from lightning speed to the gentlest. The group has abundant energy and physicality on stage.

The trio, who are performing new material from their latest LP 'Via', create the perfect balance between European contemporary classical influences and the American jazz tradition.

'High-end refinement, beauty and excitement...' **** (MOJO )

'A masterclass in seamlessly integrating strongly structured through-composition and sinewy improvisation. As ever with great trios, there are no passengers.' (JazzWise)

'A remarkable confluence of form and freedom, never superfluous or self-indulgent virtuosity, and uncanny, telepathic spontaneity.' (All About Jazz)
