Part of MeltdownWednesday 1 August 2012
Born in Bolton, and now residing in Berlin, Janine Rostron (aka Planningtorock) scored an underground hit last year with one of the year's most critically acclaimed records, W.
A true reflection of Rostron's taste, W mixes saxophone solos and staccato string arrangements with manipulated vocals and electronic beats, and was a prominent feature on many journalists best album of 2011 lists.
Also on the bill is Light Asylum, a James Murphy endorsed electronic two-piece who also now live in Berlin after relocating from New York. Singer Shannon Funchess's remarkable alto vocal recalls Grace Jones at her most intense.
Join us in the Front Room of Queen Elizabeth Hall for a special after-show party featuring DJ sets from Planningtorock, Light Asylum, rRoxymore and Anika. Exclusive to and free for ticket holders to Planningtorock and Light Asylum.
