Michael Garrick's long career encompassed music for big band, orchestra and choir, and this concert celebrates his timeless and hugely influential small-group repertoire.

Michael Garrick brought a characteristically English quality to both his playing and his writing, seizing the imagination of the UK jazz scene in the 1960s with a gift for ear-catching melody and a rare musical wit. He was one of the most distinctive of UK jazz composers.

A year after his death, Michael's violinist son, Chris Garrick, brings together some of the key players from his '60's bands - Norma Winstone, Dave Green, Art Themen and the poet Jeremy Robson - with a younger generation, including vibist Jim Hart.
