The Works
Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
Part of Classical Season 12/13 and OAE 12/13
Queen Elizabeth Hall
Tuesday 26 March 2013Giovanni Battista Pergolesi: Stabat mater
The Works is the OAE's unique series that gives audiences a guided tour of selected classical masterpieces.
This time the series turns its attention to Pergolesi's 'Stabat Mater', probably his best-known sacred work, which was later arranged by a number of other famous composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach.
Let director Steven Devine and our presenter guide you through the music movement by movement, with a complete performance following a Q&A with the artists.
There's music in the bar before the concert, together with a chance to meet musicians afterwards.
