Claude Vivier: Et je reverrai cette ville étrange
Claude Vivier: Trois airs pour un opéra imaginaire for soprano & ensemble (UK premiere)

Recital by an award-winner of the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund.

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the death of Claude Vivier, who was murdered at the age of 34, this event features two of his major works, including a UK premiere.

A visionary Franco-Canadian composer, Vivier left a unique collection of music, which has ensured his permanently growing reputation.

Reflecting influences as diverse as Asian traditional music, Stockhausen and plainchant, his music is ritualistic, hypnotic, hovering and hallucinatory, charged with emotion and seductively colourful.
