This concert is part of the Royal Philharmonic Society's 2013 Bicentenary Celebrations and Southbank Centre's Women of the World 2013 Festival.

On this date in 1813, the Philharmonic Society gave its first public concert in London. As part of the Royal Philharmonic Society's Bicentenary celebrations, this talk looks at what concert life was like 200 years ago and how the recognised classics of today, including Schumann's Symphony No. 2, were introduced to British audiences.
