Composing Workshop 3: Composing and text

The third of four lively workshops aimed at aspiring and emerging composers and musicians, exploring in more depth some of the themes of the New Music 20x12 commissions.

Drawing inspiration from several of the commissions that involve librettos, this session examines ways in which composers today can work with text, and what a contemporary musical language can express in terms of emphasising or providing a counterpoint to a text-based narrative. Curated by Brunel University's Institute of Composing, the workshop will also feature composers Emily Howard and Conor Mitchell.
