Ted Hughes Celebration Reading
Christopher Reid, Simon Armitage and David Constantine celebrate the life and work of Ted Hughes with readings of his translations, letters and of his own poems in French, Greek and Turkish.
Modern Poetry in Translation (MPT) was co-founded in 1965 by Ted Hughes and Daniel Weissbort. Two years later Ted Hughes set up Poetry International festival and worked as its first director to promote the ideals of MPT by bringing poets together from many different countries. MPT published poets appearing at the third Festival in 1970.
This natural and valuable association continues today with MPT dedicating a special issue of the magazine to Parnassus poets and their translators.
