Nuruddin Farah

Nuruddin Farah is one of the key voices about contemporary Somalia.

In his new novel, Crossbones, Jeebleh returns to Mogadishu with his journalist son-in-law Malik. Elsewhere his brother, Ahl, searches for his stepson in pirate country. What they find is a country of shadowy white-robed figures, and an uneasy calm between one battle and the next.

Farah discusses the book and the politics of Somalia at this event.

The event is chaired by Maya Jaggi, an award-winning cultural journalist and critic, who writes for the Guardian Review, Financial Times, Independent and Newsweek, among other publications.
