PaulMart: Beton brut

Tuesday 21 April - Sunday 31 May

As a collaborative duo, PaulMart (Paul Teigh and Martin Russell, both b.1980) experiment with sculptural form. Their work focuses on functional details and decorative motifs that exist - often unnoticed - in public and private buildings. Window frames, ceiling tiles, sales stands and pigeon spikes are painstakingly remade by hand, transforming overlooked architectural features into sculptures with a presence of their own.

For Concrete, PaulMart have created a new body of work which plays with the architectural setting and refers to materials, both visible and invisible, found in the café itself. Treading a fine line between appearance and disappearance, the artists' work draws attention to what is intended to be seen and what is meant to be hidden in everyday space.
