BBC Blast

Thursday 11 June 2009 - Saturday 13 June 2009

Creative young people aged 13-19 get the opportunity to let their imagination run wild in a series of free workshops as BBC Blast brings professional equipment and media industry experts to Southbank Centre Square from Thursday 11 – Saturday 13 June.

Blast builds an impressive mobile media village, with purpose built digital workshop spaces and a separate performance area. Teenagers can use state of the art equipment to produce their own work, with advice and support from BBC staff and industry professionals.

Hone your writing and MCing skills with MOBO award winner Akala in a special Hip Hop Shakespeare workshop. This is also a chance to enter the Hip Hop Shakespeare competition and win the chance to perform at the legendary Maida Vale Studios with Akala and Bashy to be broadcast on 1Xtra.

Some of the other workshops on offer include: Fashion, Screen Acting, Musical Theatre, Street Dance, Stop Frame Animation, Beatboxing, DJing, Vjing, Photography and lots more.

All workshops and showcases are free. For more details and to sign up for workshops see bbc.co.uk/blast/events or email blast-london1@bbc.co.uk.

Films, music, dance and radio pieces created at the event can be shown to friends and family at public showcases, uploaded onto the internet (including Blast’s own website – bbc.co.uk/blast), and may even make it onto BBC2’s Blast programmes.
