Festival Village Design Day

Saturday 18 February 2012 -
Saturday 18 February 2012

Come and help design what a key part of our Festival of the World, the Festival Village, will look like.

Please note this event is now fully booked

The Festival Village will be at the heart of our Festival of the World this summer. A place where artists, participants, partners and staff can socialise, connect and relax. We are looking for people to get involved in conceiving, designing and building this creative social space at our world-class arts centre.

We launched the idea of making the Festival Village on Wednesday 25 January with over 120 people attending. Whether or not you came to the launch we now invite you to our first workshops looking at the design of the space.

Everyone is welcome, from those who are looking to learn or share skills, to those interested in architecture and design, or simply with a desire to join in.

Our first design workshops begin by investigating the space, looking at how practically it can work and what kind of environment we want to create. Come and explore the site, do some space modeling and build mock ups. It'll be a lot of fun!

The workshops take place in the Festival Village on Saturday 18 February 11am till 4pm and on Thursday 23 February from 7pm till 9pm. We would love you to come along to one of these workshops.

Space is limited, so if you would like to join us please email us on festivalvillage@southbankcentre.co.uk to tell us which of the two workshops you can make and which date you would prefer so that we can reserve you a place. Everyone over 16 is welcome - please tell us if you are aged 16 to 18.

The Festival Village can be found underneath Queen Elizabeth Hall and opposite the restaurant Giraffe.
