Hayward Touring | Southbank Centre
Hayward Touring is a contemporary art organisation producing exhibitions that tour to galleries, museums and other publicly-funded venues throughout Britain. We collaborate with artists, independent curators, writers and partner institutions to develop and tour imaginative exhibitions that are seen by approximately half a million people in over 100 cities and towns each year.
Exhibitions range in scale from the British Art Show - the largest and most ambitious survey of recent British art, organised in different cities around the country every five years - to international group exhibitions produced with guest curators, artists and writers. Hayward Touring also extends to smaller monographic print, photography or new media exhibitions touring to a variety of venues, including galleries, libraries, universities, colleges and schools, arts centres and historic sites. Recent exhibitions include John Cage: Every Day is a Good Day, British Art Show 7: In the Days of the Comet, Magic Show, and Ground Level, part of the Hayward Curatorial Open.
Acting as a laboratory of ideas and nurturing new curatorial approaches, Hayward Touring’s exhibitions feature a thought-provoking mix of subjects and artists, intended to complement and expand upon other aspects of our partner-galleries’ programmes. Artists, writers, independent and institutional curators and other art specialists are invited to collaborate with Hayward Touring on new exhibitions, by proposing projects in our annual Curatorial Open or by getting in touch with the Hayward Touring team.
Hayward Touring is supported by Arts Council England and, in addition to its own programme, also tours exhibitions from the Arts Council Collection. For more information about the Arts Council Collection please visit www.artscouncilcollection.org.uk.
New Hayward Touring exhibitions to be launched in 2012 include, ‘George Grosz THE BIG NO’, which shows two of his most powerful portfolios of drawings: 'Ecce Homo', 1923, and 'Hintergrund' ('Background') and ‘William Kentridge Prints’, which will include 120 – 150 prints in all media from 1989 to the present, with a stress on experimental, collaborative and serial works. Other highlights include the continuation of our newest prints shows ‘Reflections on the Self’ and ‘Outrageous Fortune: Artists remake the Tarot’, as well as our ongoing ones by Michael Craig Martin, Jake and Dinos Chapman and Eduardo Paolozzi.
Hayward Touring exhibitions tour to galleries, museums and other publicly funded venues throughout Britain.
