Saved! 100 Years of the National Art Collections Fund

Installation Shot23 October 2003 - 18 January 2004

The Hayward Gallery celebrated the centenary of the National Art Collections Fund (Art Fund) with a spectacular exhibition of around 400 masterpieces that span 4,000 years of art history, from classical antiquity to the present day.

The exhibition included many of the world’s best-known works bought with the Art Fund’s assistance, such as sculpture by Canova, Epstein and Kapoor, paintings by Rembrandt, Picasso, Holbein, Bridget Riley, drawings by Cezanne and Michelangelo and photography by Jeff Wall and Julia Margaret Cameron.

Curated by Professor Richard Verdi, with Michael Craig-Martin as special advisor and Piers Gough as architect, Saved! was one of the must-see exhibitions of Autumn 2003.
