Welcome to the Philharmonia Orchestra’s 2012/13 season. Highlights from September 2012 – March 2013 include:
Woven Words: Lutosławski 2013 A celebration of the centenary of one of the great musical voices of the 20th century, led by Esa-Pekka Salonen

Esa-Pekka Salonen opening the season with Beethoven’s epic Choral Symphony prefaced by Leif Ove Andsnes performing Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto

A special afternoon at the Viennese operetta, with John Wilson conducting Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow

Lorin Maazel conducting two all-Russian programmes, featuring music by Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov

Vladimir Ashkenazy conducting two concerts featuring music by Shostakovich, Mahler, and Britten (in the latter’s centenary year)

Andris Nelsons leading two concerts centred on the music of Beethoven and Richard Strauss

Concerts between April and June 2013 will open for booking in September 2012.
