Asian Dub Foundation have always been one of the world's great live acts and the only band to have been invited by three Meltdown festival directors to perform -David Bowie, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Scott Walker.

Their most recent album 'History of Now' is a striking tour de force, driven by ADF's trademark adrenaline-fuelled intensity. The collaborators on this album come together here for this live show.

Asian Dub Foundation are joined by Nathan 'flutebox' Lee, Romany singer Kerieva, Chinese string players Chi 2, MC Skrien and the Ministry of Dhol.

With special guests Romay Featuring Ar8 Collexion.

The founding member of one of the most defining bands of a generation, the Velvet Underground's John Cale returns to Royal Festival Hall two years after performing what is commonly regarded as his best solo record, Paris 1919.

Having started his career with The Velvet Underground in the 1960s, Cale remains an unstoppable force on the contemporary scene. His latest EP released on Domino Records, Extra Playful, garnered much critical attention.

This show coincides with the release of his highly anticipated and as-yet-untitled latest studio album which will contain brand new material for the first time since the blackAcetate LP in 2005.

American indie rock band Low make a return to London a year on from releasing their ninth LP, C'mon, in April 2011. Recorded in their hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, C'mon was Low's third release on illustrious Seattle based indie label, Sub Pop. Low was formed almost 20 years ago in 1993 by Alan Sparhawk and his now wife and drummer Mimi Parker. Sparhawk and Parker's beautiful vocal harmonies, along with the band's restrained approach to tempo and instrumentation make Low's sound distinctly recognisable.

Humble the Poet

Humble The Poet is a Toronto-bred MC and spoken word artist whose work embodies the changing nature and resilience of one of the world's most diverse cities. From his appearance to the myriad of topics and taboos addressed in his work, he introduces a critical viewpoint to Hip Hop's landscape.

In 2008, Humble the Poet (aka Kanwer Singh) began releasing independently recorded tracks and videos on Youtube. By early 2009, he had launched thepoetproject.com, a space to share his works, and those of others that inspire him.

He has toured North America, UK and India in addition to being featured in numerous publications and major hip hop web sites including MTV Iggy, Rolling Stone, World Star Hip Hop, Allhiphop, and 2dopeboyz. He is now working to establish his Believe Me Music Imprint under Major Label for 2012.

He is joined onstage by young, London-based spoken word artists. These include Naga, a 17-year-old producer and lyricist from East London and a regular performer both in his local community and across London, from the Baishakhi Mela to the Underage Festival to Club 93 Feet East. Recently, he performed at Tate Britain and at 'My Golden Bangla' alongside the Asian Dub Foundation.

The Raghu Dixit Project with Members of Bellowhead

Following last year's sell-out concert, Indian folk-rock star Raghu Dixit and band return to Alchemy for the next exciting stage of their new collaboration with members of Britain's renowned folk big-band, Bellowhead and choreographer Gauri Sharma Tripathi.

Based on the Hayavadana myth, this concert sees the musicians joined by dancers as they recreate the story.

In the second half of the performance, The Raghu Dixit Project and Andy Mellon (trumpet), Brendan Kelly (saxophone) and Pete Flood (drums) from Bellowhead play tracks from Antaragni as well as new material.

A Southbank Centre and British Council Partnership generously supported by Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

Gauri Sharma Tripathi and Bellowhead are Southbank Centre Artists in Residence.

Rosabella Gregory

British singer-songwriter and Royal Academy of Music graduate Rosabella Gregory is a music-fiend and for this concert she performs with her quartet.

Her late grandfather (who lived to be 101) liked to recall a simple statement she made when she was six years old - 'I want to compose, create and perform music'.

That's exactly what she did, and in 2007, Rosabella won the International Prize in the New York Songwriter's Circle Song Contest.

Grammy award-winning producer Russ Titelman compared her to 'a young Joni Mitchell' on seeing her performance at New York City's legendary 'Bitter End'. She has collaborated with the likes of Bob James, Manolo Badrena, Jools Holland, Ben's Brother, Justin Nozuka and Craig David, and in 2011 toured Europe with Natalia Kills (Interscope/Will.i.am), performed with Cee Lo Green at Wembley Stadium, and played piano on Delilah's single 'Strong for me'.

She describes her new album 'Dangerous Games' as 'an exquisite, musical feast for the senses. Each song is a portrait, exploring explosive passion and human fragility. Orchestral grandeur teams with a dynamic, piano-driven score to create a compelling and carefully crafted soundscape, seducing the listener into a new and unique genre of story-telling.'

Singer Shankar Mahadevan and Purbayan Chatterjee, one of India's best-loved sitar players and composers, collaborate in this special concert for Alchemy at Southbank Centre.

Shankar Mahadevan earned his first National Film Award for his song in 'Kandukondain Kandukondain', collaborating with A.R. Rahman as a playback singer.

However, it wasn't until his debut album, 'Breathless', was released in 1998 that he became a household name.

Shankar teamed up with friends Ehsaan and Loy, both talented composers and musicians, to form the most successful musical team in Bollywood, known as Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

Not to be limited to any style, category or genre, he has also worked with some of world's most extraordinary artists and has been an integral part of bands such as Remember Shakti, SILK and Mynta.

With an international career spanning 25 years, Purbayan Chatterjee is one of India's best-loved sitar players and composers. Noted for fusing traditional Indian classical music with contemporary world music genres, he has performed across the globe in some of the world's greatest music venues and festivals.

The London Gay Men's Chorus: A Band Of Brothers

With A Band Of Brothers, its 21st anniversary gala concert, The London Gay Men's Chorus brings its unique sound to Royal Festival Hall.

Celebrating both the Chorus's pursuit of musical excellence and its role as a ground-breaking LGBT arts organisation, A Band Of Brothers features collaborations from across the music industry. The music focuses on equality and visibility, creativity and artistry, remembrance, fellowship and the future.

The repertoire ranges from the exquisite harmonies of 'A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square' and 'You Are My Sister' (Antony and the Johnsons) to the roof-raising power of 'I've Got The Music In Me', Wagner's 'Pilgrim's Chorus' and tracks by Madonna and Lady Gaga.

Comprising around 190 singing members, The London Gay Men's Chorus is Europe's largest and best known gay choir. Founded in 1991, the Chorus has worked with amongst others, Sir Elton John, The Human League, k.d lang, John Tavener and Howard Goodall and played venues as varied as The Royal Albert Hall, The London Palladium, Sydney Opera House, Washington's Kennedy Centre and even Downing Street.

The London Gay Men's Chorus charity partnership for this concert is with The Kaleidoscope Trust who work around the world to promote diversity and respect for all regardless of sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Duane Eddy

The Grammy Award-winning American guitar legend Duane Eddy is making a welcome return to London after his performance at Southbank Centre in 2010.

Eddy first hit the charts on both sides of the Atlantic over 50 years ago, and he has received accolades throughout his career. He won a Grammy in 1986 for Best Rock Instrumental performance on Peter Gunn, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, and was given the MOJO Icon Award in 2010.

His influence knows no bounds - the likes of George Harrison, Hank Marvin, Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler all claim to be inspired by his guitar playing.

Having played at Glastonbury in 2011 and recorded his latest album Road Trip with Richard Hawley, Duane Eddy remains as relevant as ever.
