An hour of music, words and action for Beano-lovers big and small. Beanotown is in crisis. Who stole the mayor's gold chain? Someone is trying to put the blame on Dennis and the grown-ups of Beanotown are declaring war on fun. We say the kids aren't guilty! Who's on their side? Children unite!

'It's difficult for anyone to create a genuine Beano "first" after nearly 74 years, but our friends at Southbank Centre have achieved just that. Dennis, Gnasher and their Beanotown buddies take menacing fun to a new level in a show that - like The Beano itself - is packed with kids' pranks, laughs and jokes. If the Beanotown grown-ups really have declared war on Dennis and co. it's fair to say they may have seriously underestimated their enemy! Awesome!'

The Arrival

The Arrival is a theatre and circus show based on Oscar-winner Shaun Tan's graphic novel, which tells the story of a man who leaves everything behind.

Leaving his family, home, language, work and status, equipped only with the objects he can carry in his suitcase, his intelligence and imagination, he must constantly re-invent himself.

This age-old tale of migration is explored through imagery, multi-lingual narrative, music, choreography and circus arts.

During the Alchemy Festival, you'll be able to get a sneak preview of the show as it will be rehearsed in situ.

Presented by Tamasha in collaboration with Circus Space.

Performances last for 30 minutes and take place at 3.30pm, 6pm and 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and 3.30pm, 4.45pm and 10pm on Sunday.

An artist and a poet with Gujarati heritage use speech, film, music, physical theatre and comedy to explore communication and language.

Visual artist Hetain Patel is a northerner from Bolton. Poet Shane Solanki is a southerner from London. Both share a Gujarati heritage, but neither can speak the language very well. This is their starting point.

They try to match patterns from their daily lives with those from their guilty pleasures from pop culture.

In this collaborative work in progress, the artists use humour to explore various modes of communication and mistranslation.

Who better to close E4 Udderbelly Festival at Southbank Centre than the mighty Tim Minchin? The comedian, composer, musician and writer is one of the UK's biggest stars, having recently completed his first arena tour with the 55-piece Heritage Orchestra and written the music and lyrics for the Royal Shakespeare Company's critically acclaimed production of Matilda. This one off show will be intimate and very, very special.

The buzz about this show has been monumental and we're keen to make sure that tickets are purchased by true fans and not touts. With that in mind, we are launching a ticket ballot for the remaining tickets.

The Incredible Book Eating Boy

This exciting adaptation by Bootworks Theatre of Oliver Jeffers' award-winning children's book follows the story of a boy with a voracious appetite for books - in fact, he eats them!

Henry loves books, but not like you and I like books - he loves to eat them! Better still, Henry realises that the more books he eats, the smarter he gets.

But a book-eating diet isn't the healthiest of habits, as Henry soon finds out.

Come and see this unique individual performance in Bootwork's Black Box theatre, a five-minute show using live performance, puppetry and projection.

Suitable for ages four and over.

This performance is for one child at a time. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults are also welcome to attend on their own.

Lok Virsa simply means the 'heritage of the people'. India and Pakistan share a rich and robust cultural heritage, which even today unites the people of each country, despite modern borders and political differences.

Internationally acclaimed Sonia Sabri Company invites some of the most inspirational artists originally from Pakistan to collaborate on a unique, interactive presentation especially for Alchemy.

Lok Virsa features a rare chance to experience traditional folk song, music and dance from Pakistan, with a guest speaker to give an overview of the current arts scene.

The Umbilical Brothers: Don't Explain

These Perrier nominees bring you a classic two-man show of stand-up double-act interplay, rubber-limbed physical foolishness and Tarantino-cartoon violence, accompanied by gob-smackingly realistic, vocal sound-effects of everything from underwater horse racing to a martial arts battle with a fly.

In this show, he who holds the microphone controls the universe. The only problem is, there is only one mic. Don't Explain brings both physical and vocal mayhem to your brains through the medium of your inner child.

From Edinburgh to the Sydney Opera House, from Tokyo to Stockholm, audiences have laughed like idiots at this acclaimed performance, as Shane and Dave use the entire comedy spectrum in their signature show.

In its incarnation as 'Thwak!', the show ran for a year off-Broadway in New York, and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Most Unique Theatrical Entertainment. This is its first return to London since a critically acclaimed run (as 'Thwak!') in 2005.

Rasa: Looking for Kool

Looking for Kool is a journey of one woman's life and the heavy price of war through the secret labyrinth of one of Southbank Centre's underground spaces.

Having witnessed her world turned upside down, Mrs U has retreated to her underground bunker, The Coconut Grove. She has survived war on her wits and on kool, the stew that gave comfort during famine, crisis and bound her community for generations. Kool now connects her to the past and to her family scattered around the world.

Confronting her death, she hijacks some war tourists, taking them on a journey. She recounts the beauty of her bittersweet life, her guilt and loss. In return they must fulfil an agonising request.

Recommended for groups with children aged 12 and upwards.

This performance takes place in Southbank Centre's Boiler Room. Due to the nature of these tours not all areas may be accessed via a step-free route. For more details please ask one of our Ticket Office staff.

Divya Kasturi & Shane Shambu Double Bill

See two extracts from two up and coming dancers, each with a unique take on classic South Asian dance.

NowHere by Divya Kasturi involves two emotionally charged, angst filled performance acts, challenging the notion of living and belonging 'inbetween'.

It tests a dancer's boundaries within the classical, traditional and contemporary aesthetics. Using dance, music, rhythm, vocals and visual elements, NowHere explores the meaning of both 'nowhere' and 'now here'.

The second piece is called Leaving Only a Trace by Shane Shambu. Shane Shambhu Company creates theatre rooted in the traditional South Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam.

Leaving Only a Trace is a revealing story shared by many of dual-heritage in the UK. A young British-Asian man realises the only way to find himself is to leave home.

Whilst packing his belongings he begins to unravel the past and wonders whether cultural values have restricted him. He has to let go of his past to come to terms with his future.

By representing the modern society we live in and exposing human experiences and behaviour, the company creates works that stir up emotions.

When Spring Comes

Half Moon's new show for two- to five-year-olds fuses Kathak dance with live jazz in an enchanting world created by illustrator Amberin Huq.

The show features contemporary Kathak dance by Vipul Bhatti and live jazz trumpet by Sean Corby.

This 35-minute experience takes you to a magical woodland dell where time passes from one season to another.

Follow Adeel on his journey of discovery from summer into winter as he anticipates the coming of spring.

When Spring Comes is a play about loss and rebirth, exploring the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

After the performance, you can join Adeel and dance to the gentle jazz rhythms of the play.
