Zero Hour Market

Created by Persis-Jade Maravala & Zecora Ura (Brazil/UK)

Thursday 19 July 2012 -
Saturday 11 August 2012

Part I of the Hotel Medea trilogy, the Zero Hour Market is an extraordinary, interactive, promenade retelling of the marriage of Medea and Jason.

The performance features vibrant Brazilian revelry, a soundtrack by internationally renowned DJ Dolores, and quasi-religious rituals.

When the guests arrive, they receive instructions on how to join in so disintegrating barriers between performers and audience, until the night finally gives way to a frenzied maze of food, blood and dance.

This extraordinary, multi-award winning production explores the heart of the ancient myth of Medea and is part of an ongoing research into elements of the Afro and Indigenous Brazilian culture and the splintered effects of our digital age.

It has won a Prix Ars Electronica Award, a Herald Angel Award, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 and was Time Out Critic's Choice - Pick of the Fringe 2011.

Recommended for ages 14 and over.

Duration - approximately 80 minutes.
