The Tiger Lillies perform Hamlet
The Tiger Lillies are back and like post-modern jesters, they tell Shakespeare's tale of the anguished prince Hamlet with their own macabre twist.
From Denmark's acclaimed Republique Theatre, featuring stunning circus acts and video projections, as well as giant puppets and a new score from the band, The Tiger Lillies bring their punk cabaret to this tale of betrayal and murder, love and revenge.
The Tiger Lillies have long been heralded for their spine-tingling songs of pickpockets and pimps of Soho, as well as their Olivier Award-winning 'Shockheaded Peter' which toured the world to sold-out theatres. Having opened to wild acclaim in Denmark, 'Hamlet' sees them repeat the dark magnificence of their earlier shows.
Directed by Martin Tulinius.
A Southbank Centre co-production with Republique Theatre.
'Innovative, imaginative and incredible.' ***** (Copenhagen Post, Denmark)
Please note, the Wednesday 19 September production at 2pm is a students and schools performance. All tickets £10.
