Born and raised in Bahia, Brazil, Anselmo had a highly successful routing and recording career in Brazil for many years, and after moving to London four years ago, he has become one of the most sought-after musicians on the London scene.
Whether as a percussionist or playing bandolim (Brazilian mandolin), he's been exploring new musical horizons and expanding his sound by mixing native rhythms with a wide range of global influences.
He has worked with the likes of ESKA, Heidi Vogel, Zoe Rahman, Idris Rahman, Ed Motta, Gilberto Gil, Seu Jorge and Netsayi, to name a few. He has been a special guest on Guy Barker's World Café on the BBC World Service, and played live with the BBC Jazz Band.
For this concert, Anselmo is joined by Matheus Nova (bass), Eduardo Marques (drums), and Carlos Franco (guitar).
