Welcome to Southbank Centre’s 2012/13 classical music season. At the heart of the programme we are proud to host seasons from our four Resident Orchestras London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and London Sinfonietta. Our year-long series return featuring leading international conductors, orchestras and artists in Shell Classic International bringing great orchestras from around the world to Royal Festival Hall, International Chamber Music Season and International Piano Series. We are excited to announce our year-long festival The Rest Is Noise from January – December 2013, exploring in depth the music and historical moments of the 20th century, inspired by Alex Ross’ book The Rest Is Noise.
