Soundbank

Southbank Centre invites musicians between the ages of 16 and 24 to audition for Soundbank, an exciting new instrumental ensemble. Players of any instrument are welcome to join this branch of our creative family, which is aimed at anyone with intermediate to advanced performance experience. Soundbank provides opportunities to be part of Southbank Centre’s festivals, performances and projects, working with leading artists, conductors and composers across many musical genres.

The next performance moment for Soundbank will be on Sunday 20 November, during the London Jazz Festival, with the Scandinavian/British jazz trio Phronesis. Working with musical director and composer Dave Maric, Phronesis will lead composition and performance workshops with 20 – 30 young musicians. Taking  original material composed by Phronesis as a starting point for re-invention, expanded arrangements and also new composition, Soundbank and Phronesis will perform together on the final day of the London Jazz Festival in Southbank Centre’s Front Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall.

We invite you to submit a short video audition, including a statement as to why you’d like to be part of Soundbank and a few minutes of you playing your chosen piece of music. The deadline for video auditions is Monday 3 October 2011 at 12 Noon. We look forward to hearing from you!

Within ‘privacy settings’ click ‘unlisted’ - the link to your video will appear.

Please paste this link into an email along with a short written statement about why you’d like to be a part of Soundbank, including your name, email address, age and telephone number, no later than Monday 3 October 2011 at 12 noon.

If you absolutely cannot submit a youtube audition, because you do not have a camera phone or access to the internet, we will be holding auditions at Southbank Centre. To apply for an audition slot please send an email to soundbank@southbankcentre.co.uk with the following information:
