In 2012/13 the London Philharmonic Orchestra proudly celebrates its 80th-anniversary season. Throughout 2013 the orchestra is collaborating with Southbank Centre on a festival based on Alex Ross’s book, The Rest Is Noise.
Philharmonia Orchestra 2012/13
Highlights include: Woven Words: Lutosławski 2013, Esa-Pekka Salonen opening the season with Beethoven’s epic Choral Symphony, a special afternoon at the Viennese operetta and Lorin Maazel conducting two all-Russian programmes.
Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment 2012/13
Highlights include: some of classical music's biggest names, including Principal Artist Sir Simon Rattle, András Schiff and Marin Alsop and the four-event series Queens, Heroines and Ladykillers which celebrates some of opera's stand-out female roles.
